Notes: The "pole" part of the mount can be removed within seconds (for example at night in order to avoid theft), as it's held on its massive axis through a single split pin. When mounted back on the axis, it recovers it's original (angular) position through pins at the back side that fit into holes. Thanks to a system of two concentric axis, the whole thing can be freely adjusted at a specific inclination angle (alongship) in order to compensate the ships angle due to squatting. This position is "remembered", i.e. it is kept although the pole is removed and re-attached (difficult to explain, but it's simple and works well!). The mount adapts to rigid inflatables of different sizes. It can also be used for other small vessel types.The pole is adjustable in height to lower the transducer to the required depth. The boat side of the mount can be simply removed from the "bridge" by pulling it out of the transversal square tubes. In case of a "normal" non-inflatable boat, only two short square tubes would have to be fixed to the ship's side. See example drawing: |
The square tubes that have to be fixed to the ship are highlighted in red. Option 2 is clearly preferable, but will depend on the given situation on the ship. Option 2 can also be designed in a "vice" or "fastening clamp" fashion, so no modifications (no holes, nothing) have to be made to the ship's wall. An additional swivel mount (as optional accessory to the mount shown here) that will allow easy switching of the transducer from vertical to horizontal beaming position is currently being designed.
The entire mount, as shown here or custom made for a specific vessel, will be built cost-effectively here in Spain (Barcelona) and shipped to your premises.
